Who
The regional contest director is Ryan Stansifer (Florida Tech), the USA site director is Howard Whitston (USA), the AASU site director is Ashraf Saad (AASU), and the chief judge is David van Brackle. The organizers can be contacted via e-mail: ser2009@cs.fit.edu.

What
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) sponsors an international programming contest for college students, known as the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) sponsored by IBM. Teams of three students write computer programs to solve a set of problems in five hours. Programming teams from the states of MS, AL, GA, SC, and FL compete at the Southeast Region (SER) Contest; the best team represents the region at the world finals. When/Where
The 2009 ACM Southeast USA regional programming contest will be held Saturday, the 7th of November. The practice round will be between 11am and noon EDT, the contest from 1:30pm to 6:30pm EDT. The contest is distributed via the Internet over several sites:

Registration
Managers must register their teams on-line at the ICPC WWW site external link and send $40 per person to Florida Tech by Saturday, 10 October 2009. Fill out this form and send a check directly to Florida Tech; do not bring checks or cash to the contest. Team composition may be changed at the ICPC site until Friday, 30 October 2009, but changes in shirt sizes cannot be accommodated after the 10th.

Environment
Like last year, the contest will be conducted in a GNU/Linux environment. The programs can be submitted in Ada, C, C++, C#, Java, Haskell, Pascal, and Python.

Scoreboard
During the contest the current standings of the teams will be posted and updated continuously (until the last hour of the contest when updates will be discontinued). After the contest the final results will be posted here and at the official ICPC WWW site external link.

Jobs
Representatives from IBM may be available to collect resumes for IBM internship and co-op opportunities. So bring one along, if you are interested in internships for the summer of 2010.
